Taiwan Day 1

17 days in taiwan...this post might take forever and still not be completed...hee heee...so here goes...this is day 1 in taiwan as per the title of course..hee hee...

Flight on SQ to Taiwan was thankfully uneventful. Jayden even managed to take a nap. Got there around 1pm. Hotel transfer came to pick us up from the airport for 1000NT. Took about 45 minutes from Taoyuan airport to Rainbow hotel in Ximending.

The hotel was decent and location was excellent. The lifts were a tad too small and breakfast was blah...but then again...who goes to taiwan and have breakfast at the hotel rite??!

Oyster Mee Sua with Intestines

This was bought from a roadside stand. It's like spring 
onion pancake with fried egg inside...yum yum

賽門甜不辣..the taiwanese version of tempura...i like!!!
Fish ball, fish cake, fried wanton, radish etc
covered in a sauce made with tao cheow(soy beans)

More tian bu la ...the dish is the foreground is meat
wrapped in chinese cabbage and that sauce again

猪血糕 - Pig's blood cake...didn't try it...Dad reckon's
it's just so-so..nothing to rave about

Stinky Tofu...really stinky...like really really stinky

White bittergourd juice with honey...for someone
who does not like bittergourd, white or otherwise,
it's actually not too bad

Deep fried squid stuffed with risotto...again so-so 
only....from some stall in some side alley

We also tried the 谢谢鱿鱼羹(Cuttlefish Soup) ...forgot to take pics...the soup was thick and tasty....not bad at all...and last but not least...雪王(ice-cream)...hahaha..the ice-cream there was soft and not too creamy..but what was weird were the flavors tofu(bland), pig trotters(salty and weird), taro(yummmmy) and orange(ohhhhhhh...my fav of the lot..tangy)...the owner was bubbly and a fountain of knowledge...better than the 'Visitors Infomation' counters...heee
