8:20 train to Hualien!!

Hee..."bento" box sold on the train...it's nothing fantastic though

We had hired a taxi for a day to bring us around Hualien. We got picked up at Hualien's train station when we arrived. It costs us around 3000NT. Well worth the price since you really need some sort of transportation to get around there....

On our way to get our lunch for a little picnic, we had to stop by to have some roasted sweet potatoes..YUMMY...roasted sweet potatoes in the middles if winter...JJIANG!

Our lunch...
What's special about are the containers.
They are made from bamboo and supposedly absorbs the steam so that
the rice remains 'Q'.

After getting our lunch...we start on our official tour of Hualien....and Toroko Gorge....Even to a non scenery loving person like me, I really enjoyed the place...really really pretty and the air is just fresh fresh fresh....I have posted a series of pictures below....enjoy....

Dad and Thomas at a lookout point

Along the bridge where we stopped the car,
is a series of marble lion statues...the unique thing is
all the lions have different expressions

This is Jayden at the ..erm..i think is temple...after we got there

Where the homemade taiwan sausages are made..

Me and Jayden sharing a taiwan sausage...

Our last stop before heading back to town...

okay...see this...it's the MOST divine spring onion pancake ever...it has to be pre-ordered...it's like deep fried...with an egg inside..and the egg is like runny..so when u bite into it...the yolk flows out...best ever...

Next stop...dinner!! At Hualien's Zhiqiang night market...not the biggest..not the best...but they do have some pretty famous stuff like the coffin bread..guan cai bing....

Choose whatever you want, and they will cook it for you

That's clotted pig's blood...

Hualien's famous guan cai bing

Mum got really excited when she saw popiah..heee

Must have shen jian bao...yummmmm

Didnt take pics for the last place we went...but it's a MUST to go..it's Hualien's gong zheng bao...or xiao long bao...they make them and steam them on the spot...and the store basically opens for 24 hours....

After all that yummy food...it's time to check into our B&B...next post to follow....
