Hepburn Springs 28/12 ~ 31/12

Just returned from Hepburn Springs. Nice little town with loads of spa, springs and food. This is where we stayed in Hepburn(Featured by The Age Good Weekend in “52 Weekends Away” as the place to stay in Victoria’s Spa Country.). A gorgeous little spa pavillion. 2 bedrooms with hydro spa in each....

Beautiful provisions in the pantry and fridge awaited us....smoked salmon, double brie, milk, juice, bread, chocolate, muesli, cereal, honey, jam etc and almost everything was organic....

On the first day, the guys went golfing and the ladies went for facial/massage...where else but at Peppers. I had the Li'Tya Mikiri. Lurved every minute of it. Had a head and shoulder massage and either massage for hands or feet, which was a pleasant surprise as I had not read about the hand/feet massage portion as part of this facial. Would go back without a doubt and try the full massage.....~bliss..Headed out to Frangos and Frangos for woodfire pizza...Pizza was pretty good (like the prosciutto one best) even though most of them does not have any meat ...~sob...but DESSERT....oh wow..the sticky date pudding....the brownie....wow

On the second day, we went to the Chocolate Mill. Small little store but yummy chocolates. Had the chocolate ganache truffles. Made without preservatives, that particular chocolate could only keep for maximum 10 days...it was consumed by your truly in a flash(in case they were wrong and goes bad). We headed to the lavender farm after that. Since Thomas and myself suffer from hayfever and it was about 35 degrees AND buzzing with flies, it was not the greatest outing for us. Entrance fee was 3.50 per adult. Had the Pasta bolognaise with osso bucco, Duck maryland with Orange sauce but the highlight for me was Lavender scones with housemade jam and cream. YUM YUM YUM. Pretty soon it was dinnertime. Went to Farmers Arms Hotels....I think we had the best meal here. Pub food but yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum.....Thomas and myself had porterhouse with kipler. Jayden has beer battered fish and chips...sounds normal? heee...but it's YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM....and the best was entree...chorizo fritters...hee hee

On the last day before checkout, we had chowder...heee...Chicken and Corn, Mahattan Seafood Chowder and Seafood Chowder served with a side order of corn bread. We has takeaway but the staff...very very friendly, very relaxed and fantastic vibe. I also managed to do some shopping(quite amazing since nothing was really opened during the xmas period)...hee..got an alpaca fleece vest for MIL, which apparently is 3 times warmer than wool and 4 times stronger than wool...prob the new cool thing to hit the market....

Overall really nice relaxed holiday. Would do it again in a flash again.

Australian Masters

Hee...went for the Australian Masters on both Friday 13th Nov and Sunday 15th Nov. Why both days you asked...although highly unlikely, Friday was in case Tiger misses cut and Sunday is for when Tiger wins, which he did...heeeee....was quite excited even though i wasnt expecting much but i was really quite surprised at how much i like watching it 'live'. The greens were like carpet...soft and well...green....and the weather was much cooler than expected. You could just feel the excitement and anticipation in the air. It was brilliant. My only complain...wayyyyyyy too much walking..sheesh...walk walk walk ...walk walk walk...wished they allowed buggies...(singaporean ma...have to find something to complain about)....

Here's Adam Scott(erm..the one in the foreground, of course)... ~cute

and TIGER ~GRrrrrrrrrrr ....the way he walks...really...like someone who knows what he is doing....

Sydney - 2nd Nov

Final day of our Sydney trip before we head back to Melbourne. Went to the zoo today. I really liked the zoo. It's not as huge and did not have as many animals as the Singapore Zoo but I think it's a combination of factors that made the trip really lovely. Firstly, the weather was just perfect. Secondly, the way to get to the zoo was different(ferry then cable car was the route we chose). Last but not least, the backdrop. This is the stage where we watched the bird show..it's just so pretty...the sea..the blue skies...

and this is Jayden while we were watching the bird show

Lunch at the zoo was the usual crappy tourisy stuff....but dinner was fantastic. We had dinner at Musashi Dining Bar, which was just 15 mins walk from our apartment. Good price too!! Ordered the Agedashi Tofu, Baby Snapper Simmered with Soy & Mirin and Grilled, Wagyu Beef Yakiniku,

Sashimi Platter

BBQ Calamari

and green tea shake(YUMMM)...all for the price of $130.00...heee....not too pricey for a Jap restaurant....and apart from the tofu (which was a major disappointment), the dinner was just YUM.

After dinner, we headed for the harbor for the last time....

Sydney - 1st Nov

Met up with friends on the second day. Yum Cha in the morn in this restaurant called Zilver. Loads of people so booking is essential. Not bad except that when we ordered 2 bowls of porridge, the staff recommended that we took one large bowl instead....big mistake...her one bowl is HUGE...after consuming the porridge...that's about it...hahahaha...

Went to The Rocks market after that. LURVEEEEEEEEE going to markets where they sell handmade crafts....bought a couple of pics to hang up...it's a series of 3 pics....shall elaborate in my later post...heee....where was I...oh yeah...we had a "little snack" from this place called La Renaissance...heee..the cakes were nice

but I reckon the stars were the ham and cheese croissant

and the jasmine with white choc ganache macaroon...YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

oh...and dinner was at this korean place...which was abit weird....since I ordered bulgogi..expecting something on hotplate..instead it was a soupy thing which wasnt really nice..hahahaha..and therefore no pics...

Sydney - 31st Oct

Went to Sydney for the Melbourne Cup holidays(and to get away from the Melbourne heat).
This is J playing Daytona while we were waiting for our flight...

We checked into Meriton Apartments on Pitt Street. Was pleasantly surprised at the place. Got a 2 bedroom apartment on the 39th floor(although G floor was actually on the 11th). Nice little kitchen with SMEG appliances...one ensuite bedroom..the other had 2 singles...really clean and cosy...and best of all great location...Woolworths and Kinokuniya was just round the corner.

Walked to Chinatown for dinner at Menya Noodle Bar.
Had the Menya Ramen

the Ramen in garlic broth(FANTASTIC although not recommended if you do not have half a dozen mints with you)

mini gyu don(really good for small eaters, snack or for lil kid like JAYDEEEEEE)

and spicy chicken wings which was alright.

Hong Kong Food!!!!!!!!

Hee...had to write some stuff about our Hong Kong trip..but I think the real fun part of the HK trip for me was the FOOD.....i lurve the food there....shopping...Singapore much cheaper...yup..even brand names...having said that...I did do quite abit of shopping at H&M, Uni-Glo and Thomas got some really nice stuff at Zara.... I did also go to Victoria Peak...but it was pretty foggy up there....back to the food...heee....because we were busy with tourist attractions, we didnt get to eat what we wanted until the last day...so u can imgaine the frantic rush to eat all the food we wanted to...hee...this was how the last day went....

Morning - Complimentary Buffet Breakfast (couldnt let it go to waste right...even though we had been having it for the last 3 days)

11-ish - Yum Cha @ Celestial Court @Sheraton Hotel...PWAH...very very good..the "carrot" cake with homemade XO sauce...the BIG dumpling(Goon Tong Gao) was fantastic...YUM YUM YUM....best Yum Cha I have had actually..the things were very "fine"...if u know what i mean...

1-ish - Dessert @ Sweet Dynasty....the thingy in the tub is sweet beancurd...and the other one in the claypot is yang yuan....YUM..very very good....actually recommended by the guys at the hotel where we stayed..and by a couple of friends as well...of course when we heard about how nice the porridge was...we had to get a bowl to try...hee heee...next time..will try the other food there..apparently the char siew there really good also...

3-ish - IFC(international Finance Center)...actually found this place(LGB Cafe) by accident...the macroons there soooo pretty..so had to try it...3 bucks a piece...but so worth it le...bitter choc ganache...yummmmmmmmmm.....and then @ ground floor..they have this like "gourmet" supermarket thing called Citysuper...there is a bakery just outside...sells the softest bread ever..and up front there is like this takeaway thing selling roast and sushi and sandwiches...yummmm..the grilled miso cod...yum yum

4-ish - Yung Kee....heard people ravvvvvvving about this place...but we were so full after all tat food....we tot...u know wat...we are only going for what it's famous for...the century egg and roast goose...never had century egg which tasted like tat...it was just beautiful...no strong smell ...just gorgeous...wanted to buy some back(to Sing of course since we cant bring eggs back to Aust)..but forgot...argh..the goose also alright...but it's the century eggs which i lurve...

6-ish - Chee Kee...the wanton mee at this place was awarded one michelin star...heee..wanton mee...one michelin star...only in HK...it was really quite good...and doesnt have one michelin star price to it as well....we also had the crab porridge and century egg porridge....heee..not bad..though the wanton mee was yummier...the soup version of course...dry one the sauce is just oyster sauce...

and of course to end of the day...we need to have dessert!!!...dont have pic for this..but the shop is found just opposite the Uni-Glo Building at Causeway Bay...the Steam Egg Custard...not bad le..but not my favourite....they had this pork chop bun..basically it's like fried pork chop in bread roll...ok also...not like to die for....wish I had tried the Xu Liu Shan everyone was talking about...maybe next trip ba..heee

Stayed two days at Disney Hollywood Hotel...bottles of shampoo had Mickey ears on the cap..hee heee...first day we spend on Lantau Island...took the new crystal cable car...took ages as they only had 12 crystal cabin...madness...oh..actually crystal cabins just means that even the floor of the cabin is see-thru...

This was taken on our way to the big Buddha...heee..still too small to fit into the tourisy face thingy..

Lunch at the Po Lin Monestry...Vegetarian of course...abit bland maybe because it's suppose to be that way...it's like a set meal thing i think we paid about 60HKD each...the Luo Han Chai was really yummy though....and of course we had to eat the famous beancurd from a store outside the restaurant..yum yum yum

This is the big Buddha...i didnt get to climb up the gazillion steps leading to it though....was looking after J...who of course was sleeping....(yes yes..excuses)

ColdPlay Melbourne Concert

So this was what happened...the buildup....

Thomas was suppose to meet me at crown for dinner last night but then traffic was so bad that by the time he met me, we only had like 45 mins before the show starts, which was at 7pm. So we decided to make our way to Rod Laver Arena to try to get a park. Went up and down Alexandra Pde and found nothing, so we had to park at the other side of the hill. Was drizzling and of course I had left my umbrella at work. Got to Rod Laver, bought fish(1 piece) and chips, Wedges and a bottle of water..for the price of $20 bucks...but what do you expect...concerts are pricey...

Took our seats about 7-ish...they were halfway throught the first opening act "Decoder Ring"..not bad...left the stage about 8pm...thought the concert was going to start..but noooooooooo..they had to have a second opening act..tat was gross "Mercury Rev"..the lead singer..he sounded like a roasting donald duck, which gave me a headache and by the time they left the stage at close to 9pm, I was seriously over it.....not to mention the fact that there was this group of teenagers behind me yaking about their love life and this weird "couple" infront of me....the gal was soooo into the guy...but the guy just couldnt be bothered..it was such a sad sad sight..anywayz

States 7pm seated and at 9pm....the concert wasnt starting..but was it worth the wait??!WAS IT WORTH THE WAIT??!! IT WAS FANTASTIC...IT WAS REALLY BRILLIANT....the best concert I have seen...at 9.15pm the concert started...hits and hits were belted out....when they sang Yellow, big balloons came falling..the lasers..the effects..brilliant...and in the middle of the concert, they went up to the CHEAPO seats and sang a few songs there like 'I'm a believer'....and I have got to tell you...CHRIS MARTIN IS AN ABSOLUTE GENIUS..i cant say enough..gosh...the concert ended about 11ish...so not a very long one..but brilliant..well worth the 140 bucks we paid for each ticket....

my only wish...they had more hits and do away with the stupid second act so that they can start earlier...but my oh my...brilliant is an understatement...

and of course..all this isnt possible..if it werent for GWEN AND CK!!! I reckon they were the STARS of the night....they had to pick J up...feed him..bathe him...and put him to bed....AMAZING...

Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi! Oi! Oi!

Thomas is now Aussie!!!! Got his citizenship yesterday...we can now travel to Europe without the need for a stack of Visas needed for every country we might visit...of course that is if we are going to Europe... *hint*..no seriously *HINT HINT*

No More Night Bottles!!!

YAY!!! We did it!!! Managed to wean J off the overnight feedings...took us 2 days but ....gosh..should have done it a long time ago...now J SLEEPS THROUGH THE NIGHT (for 3 days already)!!!! Amazing!!! Realized that I needed to do it when J woke up at the same time every night just wanting milk....became a habit for him actually...and of course the fear of bottle rot teeth (6 teeth now..hee)....Of course him sleeping through the night doesnt translate to me doing that...heee.... I still wake up just to check on him though...heeee...next step I guess is to get him to sleep in his cot in his own room alone.....wish me luck!!

Guys and Golf - a dig at Thomas..hee

So...what is it about guys and golf? or is it just Thomas? Try getting him out of bed at 6am to go to work or to change a nappy...it's like trying to move the Great Wall of China(size similar)...but golf...flies everywhere...temp near 40 degrees....and tee time at some ungodly hour...golf course eons away...no problem to waking up at 4am...it's just weird..this guys and golf thing...i wonder if gals are similar....like shopping for some or the best yum cha spot for me....hmmm...

and he insists it's for the exercise...tons of running i see
