Melbourne Osaka Fair 2009

Went to the Melbourne Osaka Fair at Treasury Gardens on the 22nd of Feb. Was a fantastic opportunity to dress Jayden in the traditional boy festival costume. There were performances and stalls selling Japanese food(takoyaki, onigiri, okonomiyaki, sushi and stuff). There was the opportunity to wear a yukata, men and women were wearing traditional jap costume...really pretty...wish I had at least taken a pic OF the fair instead of stuffing my face with food...
(PICS: Getting ready for the fair, Jayden and Mummy @ the fair, Jayden having onigiri, "Big Boss" Jayden lurving the souvenir fan).

A Sick Jayden

Jayden caught the Hand, Foot and Mouth disease sometime last week. Since he didn't have a fever, was drooling and had blisters only on his feet, I thought that it was his shoes that were causing the problem..but the reason he was drooling was because poor bubba couldn't swollow as he had blisters in his mouth. Wasnt fun for both of us though...I had to feed him milk through a syringe for the first night and he got so annoyed because the whole process was just too slow.Because of the fact that he cant swollow, he has somehow gone off breastfeeding...so you could say that he has weaned himself off the breast totally...so how do I feel about it? Although I know that it has to happen sometime and I have started to wean him off slowly, I still somehow feel weird about it..not too sure how to describe it...abit of sadness I guess and I feel quite 'sayang' about the fact that I still have milk and yet he doesnt want it anymore...it's just a weird feeling..wonder if this is a sort of separation issue on my part..hmmmm..

Amazing Human Spirit

I am not one to weep at a car wreck or at the wreckage caused by an accident...in fact I am always cynical...I do not feel sad easily when someone has illness nor do I have great compassion for many things...I am not sure why but this time..the bushfire in Victoria just touched me in a way I have never felt before...I am not sure if it's because I am now a mum...and I "feel" more or it's because I have been to many of these places and I can relate...but I do know for sure that the human spirit is just amazing...the stories of the victims..the survivors...it's just amazing...you see images of the bushfire..and you feel for those people...and the community spirit of the Aussies...it's just amazing...a country with relatively small population..in the middle of recession can raise 44 million (last I heard)...people volunteering...people wanting to volunteer...I am just amazed at it all...makes you want to weep....

Jayden playing with Thomas

or should it be the other way round...either way..it's hilarious when he(Jayden) starts laughing hysterically....he is at that really playful and cheeky stage right now...

Jayden at the Beach

Brought Jayden to the beach for the first time...he's fascinated by the waves...the sand...wish i had brought his swimmers so he could have sat on the sand to play though....and tat's his little friend Daryl next to him...

Jayden Walking

Not really....now that he has shoes which he is willing to wear.....we decided to let him try walking...assisted of course..but as you can see.....with all the Chinese New Year festivities..i think he thinks he is part of the lion dance troupe...more jumping than walking...
