The saddest thing I have ever heard

Watched a documentary called The Beckoning Silence about 2 days ago...I am telling you...that is the saddest story I have ever ever heard...just thinking about it..sigh..it's not that kind of sadness, which makes you weep...at least not for me...but it's those sadness that you can feel it in the core of your being...not exaggerating...anywayz..I shall attempt to tell that story in one short paragraph...do read it though..it's just amazing..the strength of someone..by the way..they made a film about it..called the NorthFace...okay..here goes...

It's the story of 4 young enthusiastic German mountain climbers attempting to climb the North Face. Now...I do not know much about mountains or climbing but I think it's one of the most dangerous...this story is also set in the year 1936...so as I was saying...these 4 guys were more than halfway up the mountain when there was an avalanche. One of them fell off the cliff..so instant death...3 left right...what happened was the avalanche pushed them over the edge of the cliff...and since they were tied together rite...the one at the end of the rope..he got knocked into rocks..and he died..the second I think his name is Tony Kurz is left dangling while the third guy got lodge at the edge of the cliff...now..the rope around the third guy was strangling him..but if he were to cut the rope, Tony would die...so he was strangled to death...apparently it took about 10 mins...sad right...but that's not all...

The rescue people came...but they couldnt get to Tony because of the bad weather so Tony had to spend the night dangling in the cold...next day right...one of his hands got frostbitten le.....the rescuers still couldnt get to him...and the only way is for him to rippel ..but his rope wasnt long enough...so he cut his friend at the bottom off...still not enuff rope..he had to cut the friend at the top off..so with one good hand..he pulled himself up the rope to his friend at the edge of the cliff..and cut him off too...and then he had to unravel the rope and join them together..took him 5 hours..after tat...the rope was too weak to support his weight...so he let the rope down to the resucers to get a longer rope...the resucers didnt have a long enuff rope as well..so they tied two pieces with a knot...i know..now u think good..he can at last be saved rite...WRONG...halfway down right..the knot got stuck in his metal thingy(not sure what it is called)...and he had to undo the knot..but then he was so tired by then...he couldnt do it....so at the end..he sat forward..in a clear voice..he said,"I'm finished"....and then slowly died...CAN U IMAGINE....WAH LAU EH....SO SAD RIGHT

One of those things...

During the X'mas break, I had relatives over so I decided that I will take a break for a day..you know..just watching tv...snacking..reading....so I roped the relatives in to babysit J (and Thomas). Halfway thru the "break" day, I found that the day was too quiet, too boring and I kept wondering what J was doing...u know..seperation issue on mama's part....at 5pm...I decided that I have had enuff of this break.....when I got home and saw J, the sense of I dont know...like happiness was huge....and at that point I have decided...there is really not much of a point being away from J doing nothing at all...and that J will grow up all too soon and not need or want me to be around....so thanks for the advice on having the need for my own time Oprah..but unless it has something to do with food or shopping..I think J will be stuck to be like my siamese twin....

DA DA DA PART II

Finally...got a vid of J babbling away..(refer to Oct 08)

Guys and Golf - a dig at Thomas..hee

So...what is it about guys and golf? or is it just Thomas? Try getting him out of bed at 6am to go to work or to change a nappy...it's like trying to move the Great Wall of China(size similar)...but golf...flies everywhere...temp near 40 degrees....and tee time at some ungodly hour...golf course eons away...no problem to waking up at 4am...it's just weird..this guys and golf thing...i wonder if gals are similar....like shopping for some or the best yum cha spot for me....hmmm...

and he insists it's for the exercise...tons of running i see

Bacchus Marsh

Went fruit picking on the 27th Dec with family. Loads of cherries..yum yum yum...the other berries were no longer in season and there wasn't much nectarines and peaches left but who cares...cherries are my favorite anywayz..hee hee..and they were really sweet and cheap...about 8 bucks a kg..ok...at least they were much cheaper than the markets, which were selling them at 13 bucks a kg...I have to admit it was abit warm..and the irritating flies were out in full force (hence the excuse for the grouchy me in the picture)...but it was great and am looking forward to the season again in Dec 09...hee heee...HERE I COMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE .... oh..btw..this is the link to the orchard we went to http://www.paynesorchards.com.au/activities.html and it's only 45 mins drive from my place...

Another Painting

This painting had a little note at the back of it...this is part of what it says...

"Jayden seemed very interested in exploring the paint for the first time today. Jayden looked at it closely for several seconds before touching it. Jayden then poked a blob of paint on the table. He smiled and looked closely at his yellow fingers. Jayden then picked up a paint brush and banged it up and down on the table, while spreading the paint around with his other hand. Jayden giggled as he explored. He picked up a paint pot and looked inside it and then pushed his hand inside it. Jayden spread his handful of paint around the page before re-dipping his whole hand back into the paint pot and doing it again. Jayden continued to explore the paint with both of his hands for over twenty minutes, Jayden smiled, giggled and babbled to himself as he created his wonderful art work."

Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs

There is something about this book, which I cannot put my finger on. It is horrifying, disgusting yet funny and witty. This book literally made me sick when I was done with it. Actually, it lingered on my mind and my me physically sick for a couple of days after. I am definitely not homophobic but I just cannot shake off the horrible feeling after reading about the way he described about his underage sexual encounters with Bookman and about how he found out about his mum's gay affair. Dr Finch is so bizarre I cannot believe anyone would actually go to him for any advice and his house..to say it's a pig sty is probaby an understatement. It is interesting and not a hard book to read but it is just...what's the word for it...controversial I would say.

From Publishers Weekly

"Bookman gave me attention. We would go for long walks and talk about all sorts of things. Like how awful the nuns were in his Catholic school when he was a kid and how you have to roll your lips over your teeth when you give a blowjob," writes Burroughs (Sellevision) about his affair, at age 13, with the 33-year-old son of his mother's psychiatrist. That his mother sent him to live with her shrink (who felt that the affair was good therapy for Burroughs) shows that this is not just another 1980s coming-of-age story. The son of a poet with a "wild mental imbalance" and a professor with a "pitch-black dark side," Burroughs is sent to live with Dr. Finch when his parents separate and his mother comes out as a lesbian. While life in the Finch household is often overwhelming (the doctor talks about masturbating to photos of Golda Meir while his wife rages about his adulterous behavior), Burroughs learns "your life [is] your own and no adult should be allowed to shape it for you." There are wonderful moments of paradoxical humor Burroughs, who accepts his homosexuality as a teen, rejects the squeaky-clean pop icon Anita Bryant because she was "tacky and classless" as well as some horrifying moments, as when one of Finch's daughters has a semi-breakdown and thinks that her cat has come back from the dead. Beautifully written with a finely tuned sense of style and wit the occasional clich‚ ("Life would be fabric-softener, tuna-salad-on-white, PTA-meeting normal") stands out anomalously this memoir of a nightmarish youth is both compulsively entertaining and tremendously provocative.
